Enhance the Immune System
with Marcia Miller
For years, yogis have noticed that yoga practices make them healthier and more resistant to disease, but their experiences were not backed up by research studies. Fortunately, Western medical science is turning its attention to the effects yoga practices can have on the immune system and discovering that the yogis were right. Marcia Miller designed the research protocol for such a study at OSU, looking at yoga and immunity. In this workshop, Marcia will teach the asana sequence and relaxation techniques that were tested in that study, as well as other immune-enhancing practices she has collected over a lifetime of experimentation, study and teaching. The day will be balanced between didactic and experiential learning. At the end of the day, you’ll know much more about the workings of your immune system, and you will feel full of vitality as well! Extensive handouts accompany this workshop, which is appropriate for yoga teachers and yoga students of all levels.Cost: $80.00

Best of Both Worlds: An Ashtanga Workshop with Martha & Jerry
with Martha Marcom
In this three-hour class, you will take a leisurely journey through the Primary Series, followed directly by an hour of restorative poses. Restorative yoga could be considered the opposite experience from Ashtanga yoga. Ashtanga is constant movement, heat, focused breathing and physical effort. Restorative yoga is the quiet release of the body into the support of bolsters and blankets, a deep rest for the nervous system. This workshop is ideal for Modified Primary students who want to experience the entire sequence, as well as Primary Series students who’d like to experience an ease within and after their practiceCost: $45.00

The Business of Yoga
with Linda Oshins
You can practice the yamas and niyamas while doing business—truthfulness, non-greediness, contentment, non-violence toward yourself and others, surrender. But you must let people know enough about your work as a yoga teacher for the right students to find you. This workshop was requested by students in YOHI’s Advanced Teacher Training program, many of whom have studios, but it is also applicable to individual yoga teachers affiliated with one or more studios. Jasmine Grace, Yoga on High’s new CEO, will lead a discussion on marketing a yoga studio or yourself as a yoga teacher, covering websites, marketing through social media and developing retail sales. The workshop should cover your basic marketing and branding needs; however, Jasmine is available for private business consultations if you’d like even more help. This is the first in an ongoing series of the business of yoga. Cost: $125.00

Yoga on High 3-Day Retreat
with Marcia Miller
Silent retreat offers you a time to journey deep within your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without the usual daily disruptions and eruptions, giving you the opportunity for insight and compassionate attention to the present moment.During Yoga on High’s retreat you can devote yourself to various yoga practices, not just the physical asanas. Mornings begin with pranayama (breathing practices) and meditation followed by a long asana class. Afternoons offer various practices—sometimes a variety of active or restorative asana, sometimes different forms of meditation—and evenings are for chanting, poetry reading or question and answer sessions. There are long breaks during the day so that you have time on your own as well. During breaks you can take a spiritual walk through the labyrinth or around the beautiful grounds at Grailville, visit Luann Jacobs for a private Reiki session or catch up on much-needed sleep. The community of yogis practicing with you offers plenty of fellowship and support, and you can meet one-on-one with the retreat leaders if you wish. Marcia and Linda are leading the retreat this year, steeped in their practices and ready to welcome you to the insights that come with silent contemplation. If you would like to talk to one of them about retreating, call them at 614.291.4444. Doug Keller Teachers’ Day on Hip Therapy
with Guest Teacher
Join Doug Keller for a teachers-only workshop on hips. Doug will give general instructions for “opening” the hips in yoga poses, but the same instructions don’t work in the same way for everyone. It’s essential to have some awareness of the anatomy of the hips, as well as the ability to assess your own postural “dosha” with regard to the hips. Then it is far clearer which actions in yoga poses will likely be beneficial to your own hips, and which actions are ill-advised or need to be adjusted to suit your structure. We’ll be looking at common injuries to the hips—especially those that threaten to arise from yoga—and how to prevent them and adjust one’s practice to heal them. Using your own body as a laboratory, you can apply the principles you learn to your students’ postural habits and individual needs.Cost: $85.00 Workshop price includes a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. No refunds are available after February 15 unless we can fill your spot.

Reiki Master Training
with Jodi Patton
REIKI MASTER PROGRAMBecoming a Reiki Master is an act of dedication and service. You offer yourself as a vehicle of support to others in person or at a distance. It is a great joy to have something useful to give to yourself and others in times of personal challenge or growth. At Yoga on High we offer two levels of training in the Masters Program–Reiki Master Practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher. Both Practitioners and Teachers receive the Masters’ level attunement and symbols and have time to practice with other Reiki Masters and talk about their experiences. The instructors for both programs are certificed Reiki Master Teachers Jodi Patton and Gail Sky.REIKI MASTER PRACTITIONERThe Practitioners level is designed for people who wish to deepen their practice, giving and receiving Reiki as a Reiki Master, but do not wish to attune others or teach them how to use Reiki. In three monthly 3-hour sessions Practitioners receive the Master attunement and symbols, training on the use of the symbols and plenty of hands-on practice. They also meet twice for practice with their peer group. The program awakens a deeper intuitive relationship to and understanding of healing energy and invites open discussion of your perceptions and experiences as a healer. Cost $500.00REIKI MASTER TEACHERStudents in the Master Teachers program first complete the Master Practitioner Program, receiving the Master attunement and symbols. Then they spend another six months learning to attune others and conduct Reiki training sessions themselves. Overall the program takes nine months to complete. It includes monthly 3-hour group meetings with Master Teachers Jodi and Gail, monthly practice session with your peers, and assisting in Level I and Level II classes and Reiki workshops. You will receive step-by-step instructions on attuning others and leading them in their own exploration of healing energy. Assisting Master Teachers allows you to watch students go through their own evolving relationship with Reiki and become familiar with the common questions and concerns of beginning students. In this program you have the time to develop methods of being present to others, actively listening, trusting your intuition and addressing the spiritual aspects of healing.
