Doug’s weekend workshop will be a contemplation on ‘Dharma’—discovering and living according to one’s own nature in body, breath and mind. Asana practice will focus on keys to self-awareness—knowing one’s own body and finding the keys to adjusting one’s practice according to one’s own nature. This will be true in pranayama and meditation as well. The center of the philosophical theme will be a thoughtful consideration of the Bhagavad-Gita and the challenging contrast it presents between the individual conscience of the yogi and the structure and expectations of life in a community with its expectations of conformity. This will be a rich consideration of one’s own place within ‘yoga’ and a yoga community. The weekend will be an exploration of ‘Dharma’ as self-awareness, independence and freedom on the path of yoga.
