You could say Stephanie was the coolest high school student around, so “cool” she was practicing yoga before it became cool or a substitute for “gym credit”. We thank our lucky stars she had a library card and the wisdom to check out a yoga VHS tape while she was still in high school, for thus was born a life-long interest in yoga and a wonderful teacher.
From watching videos on “relaxation and rejuvenation” in high school, to catching classes at the YMCA post-college to walking into Yoga on High in the fall of 2002 for her first Hatha New Beginner’s class, Stephanie knew she’d found something good, something that helped change her relationship to anxiety and stress.
By 2005 with lots of asanas under her belt, and the knowledge of the power of savasana to transport her to a state of being “awake” with a quiet mind she knew it was her path to share this knowledge with others. She completed the Yoga on High 200 hour teacher training program, began studying and working with energy through her Reiki I & II attunements, added the Prenatal certification in 2007, and is currently finishing up the 500-hour teacher training requirements.
Stephanie is committed to working with yoga as the ultimate tool to help students change their relationship to anxiety. Through years of personal study, she invites students to understand how breath, physical holding, emotion and thought can play into increasing anxiety, while movement, a change in perspective and using specific breathing practices called pranayama can help reduce anxiety, putting students back in control of their well-being.
Stephanie has had the pleasure to study with a broad range of teachers including national teachers Jean Couch, Amy Weintraub, Swami Ramananda, and Christopher & Paula Easton. And she considers her self fortunate to have a wealth of opportunities for learning in her own backyard including; Marcia Miller, Mary Sinclair and Gail Sky.
