Laura aspires to weave playfulness and whimsy into her practice and teaching, and she believes that you can take your practice seriously while taking yourself lightly. Laughing is allowed and welcome in her classes. Laura cites her students as her greatest teaching inspirations and likewise, her teachers as her inspirations for continued learning. She was raised as a yogi by the parents of Yoga on High (Linda, Martha, and Marcia) and has also studied with such yoga greats as Tim Miller, Rodney Yee, Baron Baptiste, Seanne Corn, Mark Blanchard, and Eileen Hall.
Laura completed the Yoga on High teacher training program in 2002 and taught at the studio before heading off to Canada for a Master’s degree at the University of Toronto. Before circling back to Columbus, Laura stopped off for a year-long fellowship at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. But, she has now prodigally returned to teach at Yoga on High and, also, to pursue her Doctorate at the Ohio State University.
In her travels and various homes, Laura has had the opportunity to infuse her practice and teaching with a diverse array of yoga traditions from Jivamukti to Bikram, from Yin to Iyengar, from Anusara to Kundalini. She appreciates the diversity found in different yoga styles, but, more importantly, she relishes those unifying principles that hold them together. She’s had the opportunity to practice in many different languages on many different continents. But, in all of her wandering, Laura has never found a studio as special as the one she first started at – Yoga on High – and she encourages people to find out why for themselves.
