Beth fell in love with yoga in 1998 while volunteering at the Deep Griha Society in Pune, India. On a broken tile rooftop at sunrise with her Indian “Aunties” she felt the profound benefits of daily practice and the power of the breath & postures to awaken, heal and transform. She returned home to Columbus enamored, practicing & eager to learn more.
Serendipity has led her to practice & study with several local and international teachers to whom she is greatly indebted. Among them, Karen Noble who taught her the Ashtanga Primary Series & handed her Moola Bandha: The Master Key & Yoga Mala in 1999; Martha Marcom who was the only Ashtanga teacher for miles & a respite of sweat, breath & graceful guidance from long hours as an architect-designer drafting hospital rooms & contemplating “what is a healing environment?” which grew radically more apparent with each vinyasa & savasana; and each yogi and yogini, on and off the matt, who have become friends, mentors & colleagues over the years.
Beth has completed teacher trainings in Ashtanga, Hatha, Prenatal, Kids, Restorative and Vinyasa; along with a Kundalini Yoga Intensive, a 9-week course in Mindfulness Meditation & several modalities of movement & experiential anatomy. She has had the privilege to practice with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India at The Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute for five weeks in 2006 while taking Sanskrit writing, speaking & chanting classes; in NYC in 2001; & Encinitas in 2000. Along with her continued studies with Marcia, Martha & Linda and the YoHi staff, she has been blessed to study with: Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, Rodney Yee, Cyndi Lee, David Nichtern, Judith Lasater, Maty Ezraty & Chuck Miller, Angela Farmer & Victor Van Kooten, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Marsha Wenig, David Swenson, Doug Swenson, David Williams, Jean Couch, Tom Myers, Swami Ramananda, Johnny Kest, Vyaas Houston, Lino Miele…
She began teaching in 2000 and loves to teach all ages, needs & styles and has especially enjoyed teaching & taking prenatal through her 40th week of pregnancy & the long meditation on breath & presence called labor in which her yoga proved invaluable. She lives in Columbus with her lovely husband, their amazing daughter and their alter-ego cats, Gabby & Boi. She is completing a 2-year+ training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, loving being a new momma & grateful to be a part of a very supportive & wise yoga community.
