Anne Marie Blaire

Anne Marie has been practicing yoga since 1997. She enriched her practice and knowledge through the Yoga on High teacher training program after departing her vigorous corporate retail career for a more balance life of yoga and a flexible retail consulting practice.

Anne Marie first tried yoga at the encouragement of a friend, but it was the healing the practice brought to her cousin that most inspired her. It was love at first asana. Her voice became several octaves lower, and over time, her exercise and stress induced asthma diminished. Her friends and colleagues could see a difference in her physically and in her new ability to move through difficult transitions with a calm sensibility. Her infectious energy for yoga had become quite evident.

While Ashtanga is her first love, providing both a calming and energizing effect, she also relishes the opportunity to study Hatha in a thoughtful manner. Hatha has enriched her Ashtanga practice by allowing her to slow down and focus on the point where movement initiates, to understand how different bodies can interpret the same movement, and to gain a sense that feeling inside ones’ own body can answer questions and unlock blockages.

Anne Marie has enjoyed studying with the Yoga on High Partners—Martha, Linda and Marcia—and delights in the challenging practices with Tim Miller and Rodney Yee each year. She has also studied with David Swenson, Cyndi Lee, David Nichtern, Swami Ramananda, Manju Jois and Tom Myers. Anne Marie is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered teacher, currently working on her 500-hour certification.

While Yoga on High is the heart of her practice and her second home, AnneMarie loves taking her mat on the road, tracking down a studio in Paris, Florence, New York, Los Angeles or the beach. It’s also handy during long airport delays.
