A Day for Teachers with Roger Cole

The Physiology of Breathing and Relaxation
Morning Session: Breathing Physiology & Practice

In this session you will learn the basics of breathing science and how to apply this knowledge to the practice and teaching of yoga. Topics include breathing “mechanics,” respiratory physiology, the neurophysiology of breath control, the relationship between breathing and states of consciousness and specific breathing techniques to produce desired effects.

Afternoon Session: Relaxation Physiology & Practice

This session will teach you the physiology that makes restorative yoga practice so effective and show you practical ways to apply this science in the classroom to give your students a deeply relaxing experience. You will also get some wonderful relaxation practice of your own. Props are provided, but if possible, please bring a small towel or other item to cover your eyes.

Roger Cole’s work is clear, well organized and presented in a manner immediately applicable to the teaching and practice of yoga. His handouts will become an important part of your library, and you’ll refer to them again and again. Marcia Miller says that the way she thinks about anatomy is organized around the framework she got from Roger years ago. She hopes you’ll join us for this rare event in Columbus.

Date: Friday, October 29, 9:00p to 4:00p
Cost: $120.00
