From the moment children enter the world, they are exposed to a vast array of stimuli–sights, sounds, tactile sensations and our emotional states–which can overload a child’s nervous system.Yoga is the perfect way to calm the mind, tap into a child’s inherent creativity, imagination and playful spirit.
In addition to being Yoga Alliance registered, our Family & Children’s teachers have completed specialized training programs focused on the key developmental milestones for each age group and how to best allow these skills to unfold through yoga and movement. Each teacher brings a unique love of yoga and immense sense of creativity and joy to the classroom.
"Yoga can help healthy children remain healthy. And for children under physical or emotional stress, for example asthma, pain, anxiety, or poor focus, the calming breath and movement practice of yoga can be beneficial in reducing symptoms. Yoga can be used to augment standard medical care but can also reduce the need for medications and other interventions. I recommend yoga for children of all ages as the benefits reaped are lifelong".
-Dr. Dhanu Sant, MD, WholeKids Pediatrics & Yoga
Over time, even little children can learn techniques for relaxation which will allow them to navigate life with greater ease. And older children immediately find the value of centering before a big game or test, using breath practices to help them drift off to sleep or avoid insomnia.
