A Day for Teachers with David Swenson
David Swenson has been practicing yoga and living according to yogic principles for decades. Studying with such a teacher, whose yoga practice has borne the fruits of compassion, lightness, good humor, wisdom and skill, is of tremendous benefit to your teaching practice. This session will focus on the theory and practice of hands-on adjusting. In addition David will share his humorous insights on how yoga philosophy works in your life and teaching practice. The class is open and of benefit to teachers of all backgrounds, not just Ashtangis.

An Ashtanga Weekend with David Swenson
Develop your personal practice under the guidance of a master. David’s weekend will offer an in-depth and fun-filled exploration of the dynamic system of Ashtanga Yoga. As we move through the Primary Series, we will revel in the details of the practice, from Sun Salutations through to Savasana, and break down the flowing action of vinyasa into its detailed components. We will also explore the opposing forces at play within the practice, which David calls “Equality of Opposition and the Six Directions.” He’ll offer methods of creating balance between these forces to find greater depth in asanas while using less effort. He will also delve into the subtle aspects of Ashtanga yoga, including pranayama and applying the philosophy of the eight limbs in daily life. David will meet you where you are—the workshop will be fruitful for all levels of ashtanga yogis.
Dates: November 5 – 7, 2010
Friday, 7:30 to 9:30p; Saturday, 10:45a to 5:00p; Sunday, 9:00a to noon
Cost: $200 if paid in full before October 5, $225 after October 5
Open Ashtanga Class
Since studying with David Swenson is so inspirational, we want everyone to have the opportunity to work with him. This class is open to all levels of Ashtanga students and is especially intended for those who are unable to commit the time or money required for a full weekend workshop. The exact content of the class will depend upon the experience and needs of those attending.
